Spring COCA Meeting In conjunction with the upcoming Chicagoland show, our next meeting will be on Friday evening, April 4, 2008, at the Hilton Garden Inn. This will be a dinner meeting; the cash bar will open at 5:30 and an Italian buffet dinner will be served from 6:00 until 6:30. This optional dinner will only cost $10 and includes meat or veggie lasagna, salad, bread and dessert. All members and their guests are welcome for both the dinner and/or meeting. Any donations for raffle door prizes would be greatly appreciated and should be directed to Marcia Blau (414-352-7623). We hope to start the meeting at 6:30 and adjourn around 8:00. We have again negotiated a special COCA member room rate for those that are interested in staying at the Hilton for both the spring and fall shows of $95 single and $98 double. Suites are available for $159. Members should call the hotel directly at 630-584-0700 to make reservations as there are a limited number of rooms available at this rate.

Local gatherings were held at the homes of Al and Carol Demetruk and Bill and Lyn Petrochuk. Close to 60 members and guests were able to join in the fun. New Exhibition on Mechanical Music & Automata The Morris Museum in New Jersey announced that their new exhibition of mechanical music and automata will open November 6, 2007. The next COCA Summer Convention in 2008 is scheduled for NYC and a private showing of the exhibition is scheduled. MIlls Dice Slot Machine Sells in 24 hours Recently a 25 cent Mills Dice Slot Machine was posted on the COCA Classified Ad web site. It sold in less than 24 hours. It was purchased by COCA member. Several new ads are posted on the COCA web site every week. While only COCA member can view the classified ad section, anyone can post an ad.
Jukebox Exhibit in Grand Rapids Michigan The Van Andel Museum Center of the Public Museum of Grand Rapids MI is featuring an exhibit on the jukeboxes and American culture during the 20th Century. A new museum exhibit examines the progress of the coin-operated music industry, and the jukebox’s close connection to American culture, from the early 20th century to the present. It opened last month here at the Public Museum, where jukeboxes built by the Rowe/AMI organization, a hometown factory hero, are the focus. Located in Van Andel Museum Center, the exhibit is scheduled to run through December 31, 2008.
