Morphy’s has postponed the March 28 - 29, 2020 Coin-Op and Advertising auction until April 25th and 26th. Preview will be on Friday afternoon, April 24th.Over the past 23 years, Morphy Auctions has sold some of the world’s finest and most extraordinary antique coin-operated machines. On March 28-29, at Morphy’s headquarters in Lancaster County, Pa., the company will auction what founder and president Den Morphy describes as “the best and most significant offering of antique mechanical and coin-operated music, vending and gambling machines” ever to pass through their doors.
A fantastic Mills Novelty Co., bow-front Violano-Virtuoso, fully restored with a perfectly tuned mechanical piano and violin, and six rolls, is expected to sell for $100,000-$150,000. Also made by Mills, a ‘Twin Chicago’ double upright slot machine that accepts both quarters and nickels was designed with the extra addedattraction of a music player. All original from top to bottom and inside out, it is estimated at $60,000-$90,000.
A large selection of late-19th and early 20th century vending machines, dispensing everything from candy and peanuts to cigars, perfume and even your fortune as dispensed by Puss in Boots will surely bring smiles to many faces at the preview.
